The Final Chapter: One month until derby decider

Supporters from both sides of the M8 are gearing up for the 1872 Cup ‘Final Chapter’, with today marking exactly one month to go until the derby decider at BT Murrayfield on Saturday 21 May (kick-off 6.30pm).

As both Edinburgh and Glasgow Warriors return to URC action this Friday night, the focus is back on the build-up to May’s highly anticipated second leg, as Scotland’s best players go head-to-head for the 1872 Cup and Scottish x Italian Shield, in a blockbuster match-up that could also determine URC Quarter-Final ranking and thus automatic Champions Cup qualification.

The latest instalment of world rugby’s oldest intercity derby is set to be a historic day at Scotland’s national stadium and supporters from both sides of the derby are encouraged to back their club for the ‘Final Chapter’ in what has been a storied season for both of Scotland’s professional clubs.

Edinburgh host Zebre Parma this Friday (22 Aril), before taking on Ulster at DAM Health Stadium the following Saturday (30 April) in two crucial home match-ups.

Glasgow Warriors face DHL Stormers in Cape Town this Friday (22 April) before matching up against Vodacom Bulls in Pretoria a week later (Friday 29 April) in a two-week tour of South Africa.

All roads then lead to BT Murrayfield for one of the most highly anticipated 1872 Cup derbies in the professional era, as the two sides go head-to-head for much more than intercity bragging rights on the final day of the regular URC season.

Tickets for May’s blockbuster derby have been back on sale since January, with all existing tickets (match tickets, season tickets and half season tickets) valid for the decisive intercity clash at BT Murrayfield.

With over 15,000 tickets already sold for the regular season finale, supporters are encouraged to secure their place at BT Murrayfield now while the best seats are still available at Scotland’s national stadium.
