Team named for Scarlets finale

Head Coach Richard Cockerill today named the Edinburgh Rugby side for the club’s final Guinness PRO14 Rainbow Cup match of the season against Scarlets in west Wales this Sunday (13 June, kick-off 1pm) – live on Premier Sports.

International call-ups count for five of the 10 changes to the starting side, with back-row Hamish Watson and outbound wing Duhan van der Merwe joining the British & Irish Lions camp in Jersey, while hooker Patrick Harrison, number 8 Ben Muncaster and full-back Harry Paterson are all with Scotland U20.

Scotland 7s internationalist Kyle Rowe is selected at full-back where he’ll make his first appearance for the club, in place of Paterson, while Jack Blain steps in for van der Merwe – Eroni Sau switching wings in the process.

Heriot’s Rugby centre Cammy Hutchison – who made a try-scoring debut for the club last week – earns promotion from the bench to make his first start for the club alongside reselected midfielder James Johnstone. George Taylor takes his place among the replacements.

Experienced scrum-half Henry Pyrgos switches places with Charlie Shiel – who moves the bench – to start alongside stand-off Blair Kinghorn and complete the changes to the back division.

The changes to the pack see the vacated back-row spots of Muncaster and Watson taken by Fijian powerhouse Mesu Kunavula and promising young openside Connor Boyle, who combine with captain Jamie Ritchie in the loose forwards.

Lock Jamie Hodgson starts in place of the injured Ben Toolis alongside Marshall Sykes, while a new front-row completes the changes to the starting side.

Prop Pierre Schoeman and hooker Mike Willemse are promoted from the bench and tighthead Angus Williams comes into the match-day squad to start in place of WP Nel.

Edinburgh Head Coach, Richard Cockerill, said: “Everyone wants to win their last game and we’re no different.

‘I’m really proud of how the players have stayed committed to the task throughout a difficult 12 months. I really can’t fault the effort of the group.

“We’re now looking for one final big push to end our campaign in good spirits and bid farewell to a long, tough and altogether unusual season.

“We get one more chance to put a mark on this season so it’s important we stay focussed, stay in the moment and deliver the commitment and accuracy we know is needed to finished the season on a high.”
