Scotland internationalists back for Bath challenge

Edinburgh Rugby welcome back five Scotland internationalists to their starting XV for tomorrow night’s EPCR Challenge Cup Round of 16 tie against Bath at DAM Health Stadium (Saturday 16 April, kick-off 8pm) – live on

Scotland stars Mark Bennett, James Lang (both centres), Blair Kinghorn (stand-off), Ben Vellacott (scrum-half) and Hamish Watson (back-row) all get the nod for the first-ever knockout match to be played at the club’s new home.

Puma playmaker Emiliano Boffelli returns to the wing in place of the injured Darcy Graham, Ben Muncaster is once again fit and starts at blindside flanker, while Fijian international tighthead prop Lee-Roy Atalifo get his opportunity up front in the only other change to the XV that claimed a 54-5 victory against Pau in Round 5.

Ahead of the European tie, Head Coach Mike Blair, said: “We’re really excited to host knockout rugby at DAM Health Stadium but we know it’s just that. You’ve got one chance and, if you don’t perform, you don’t give yourself that opportunity at the next stage.

“I’ve loved the buzz around training this week and I’ve seen a real focus from the guys too. We were pleased with lots of elements from the win against Pau and that confidence has carried through into our preparation.

“We know that Bath are a strong outfit who possess threats across the park. They’ve got some quality internationals and young up-and-coming players too. It’s great to have an English Premiership team coming up to the DAM Health and our guys are relishing the challenge.”

The inclusion of Boffelli on the wing is the only alteration to an otherwise unchanged back-three as fellow Argentine international flyer Ramiro Moyano – twice a try-scorer against Pau – and full-back Henry Immelman continue in the backfield.

Club centurion Stuart McInally (hooker) packs down alongside props Pierre Schoeman and Atalifo up front as an unchanged lock combination of Grant Gilchrist – once again named captain – and Marshall Sykes complete the tight-five.

Number 8 Magnus Bradbury anchors an all-action back-row which sees flankers Muncaster and Watson form the remainder of the pack.
