Schoeman awarded Caullie Lug for 2019-20
You voted and it’s been decided. The winner of this year’s Caullie Lug – given to the player that showed the most commitment to the jersey in 2019-20 – is Pierre Schoeman!
The long-haired loosehead prop talisman picks up this year’s award after gaining the most nominations from supporters during this week’s social media vote.
The 26-year-old front-row star – whose performances across the season saw him named in the Guinness PRO14 Dream Team – was the clear outright winner, gaining over double the number of votes than his teammates.
Schoeman follows in the footsteps of club legends Allan Jacobsen and Roddy Grant in picking up the award, while his 2019-20 success follows winger Darcy Graham, who claimed the famous trophy last season.
Although Schoeman was the clear winner, the vote for second and third place was close run with second-place a tie between two up-and-coming stars.
After a campaign that saw him claim the club’s Man of Steel and Young Player of the Season, Luke Crosbie gained the second most votes alongside the Guinness PRO14 Players’ Player of the Season, Duhan van der Merwe.
Rory Sutherland claimed third place following a terrific comeback campaign that saw the loosehead return from injury to claim Scotland’s No.1 jersey, while putting in a number of barnstorming performances for the capital side.
Thanks to all that voted and congratulations to Pierre Schoeman who wins this year’s Caullie Lug!
