Rainbow Cup fixtures announced with 1872 Cup decider confirmed
Edinburgh Rugby will open their Rainbow Cup campaign at home to Zebre on Friday 23 April as PRO14 Rugby today confirmed the dates and kick-off times for the first three rounds of action in the new-look tournament.
Richard Cockerill's side will begin their Championship against Zebre at BT Murrayfield (kick-off 8.15pm) having already claimed a 10-26 victory over the Italian outfit in Parma earlier this season.
The capital side will then move into a double-header against Glasgow Warriors, which will take place over successive weekends in rounds two and three.
As the 1872 Cup series is currently tied at 1-1, the opening match of the double-header will serve as the 2020-21 decider, with the winner of the clash at Scotstoun on Friday 7 May (kick-off 8.15pm) taking home the famous inter-city trophy.
The two sides will then meet again in a regular Rainbow Cup match eight days later, with Edinburgh hosting the Warriors at BT Murrayfield on Saturday 15 May (kick-off 7.35pm).
Confirmation for the following three rounds will follow once PRO14 Rugby has received all necessary approvals and permissions from the relevant governments and health authorities for the South African teams to travel.
