McBurney: "We gave everything we had"

McBurney: "We gave everything we had"

Get the Quick Hits from hooker Adam McBurney as he spoke to press after Saturday's EPCR Challenge Cup Quarter-Final defeat against Wasps.

On a tough game

"There were a couple of moments we let past us. We did a lot of good stuff out there and pride ourselves on work rate and energy, physicality.

"That was all there but for us in terms of growing as a group we want to be on the right side of the score sheet. We said with knock out rugby it doesn't matter what you put out on the pitch it is all about getting the win on the pitch and we came up short of that today.

"We have another opportunity in another quarter final now to put that right and we want to be in the semi final and the final as a group, to win championships.

"Unfortunately, the Challenge Cup is now out of our reach so we move onto the URC and with that Glasgow game try and push up the table. We see that as a final in itself and we want to go out on a high at the end of the season. We can learn from that today and move onto the URC."

On a physical encounter

"I wouldn't say we were out powered at all. We gave everything we had as a group and we pride ourselves on our physicality. We were definitely not overpowered.

"There were a couple of moments when we let by us yes, that's rugby, but as a group we need to learn from those and be a bit more clinical. In terms of being out powered I didn't see that at all."

On the 1872 Cup

"It is case of parking that today and moving on. We are seeing that Glasgow game as a final in itself climbing up that URC table. We are currently eighth so we want to get sixth, seventh and obviously Champions Cup rugby is on the line.

"We have that game then a quarter final and we will be throwing all our eggs in the one basket and want to be in the semi final.

"To be honest I would rather get zero minutes and us get into a semi final. That is the way rugby goes. I want to play too but as a group and as a collective we want to get into the semi finals.

"For me getting the opportunities to go out there and play my rugby is great but as a collective I do what I can to help us get into semi finals and finals."
