Five things you didn't know about Matt Gordon
Matt Gordon joined the club this past summer and made his debut in last season's final 1872 Cup match-up. Here are five things you didn't know about the Aussie centre.
Athletics was his focus
"Growing up rugby was probably second fiddle to my athletics. I was a national shot put and discus thrower and that was probably more of a focus than rugby was."
An academic away from rugby
"I have done a bit of study away from rugby, I have a bachelor of business degree majoring in Human Resources. And over the lockdown I got a bit bored so I decided to start a masters degree."
He's experienced the real world
"Before heading over to the UK last year to play for London Scottish, I took a bit of time away from footy and worked full-time in the HR side of things mainly just doing some mining and labour recruitment kind of work.
"It gave me a good perspective on how lucky we are to be full-time athletes when you have worked a 9-5 job every day!"
He's a 90s cinephile
"Away from rugby I’m a bit of a movie nut - especially 90’s movies. I try and watch an older movie most weeks when I’m having a bit of down time.
"Anything with Adam Sandler in it. The Green Mile and Goodfellas are personal favourites!"
He couldn't think of a fifth fact...
"Struggling for content here... I’ve discovered I’m not all that interesting! Haha"
