Fans invited to new stadium open day!

Edinburgh Rugby is delighted to announce the club’s first supporters’ Open Day at its brand-new stadium, the ERS, on Saturday 4 September (11am-2pm).

The team has been training in their new home since its completion in the spring however restrictions to combat the ongoing coronavirus pandemic have meant the chance for fans to set foot in the ground has been on ice, until now.

Next month’s free event will welcome up to 2000 supporters to check out the new ground, watch the team put through their paces by new Head Coach Mike Blair from the Lothian Stand, and get the first opportunity to see the club’s new match kit in the flesh, having been unveiled across social media the day before (Friday 3 September).

The event gives supporters the perfect opportunity to familiarise themselves with the new stadium and fan zone - where food and beverage units will be open to fans throughout the Open Day - while supporters can look forward to hosted Q&As, with chat from players and coaches on the day as we build-up to the 2021/22 season kick-off.

The club’s 2021/22 Macron match kit will also be available to purchase on the day at the Scottish Rugby Store, giving supporters the perfect opportunity to get kitted out for the new campaign.

Tickets will be sent electronically within 48 hours of the event. Wheelchair users should call the ticket centre on 0131 378 1600 (Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri 10am-4pm) to book tickets.

Fans will also be able to purchase tickets for Edinburgh Rugby’s first ‘Homecoming’ match in the new stadium against Newcastle Falcons the following Saturday (11 September, kick-off 3pm) as well as Season Ticket Memberships for the much-anticipated URC and European Challenge Cup campaigns.

Edinburgh Rugby Managing Director, Douglas Struth, said: “We’re delighted that, after so long apart, and only one week out from our first game in the new stadium, we’ll be able to welcome supporters into the new ground, where they can see the team add the finishing touches to their preparations and share in the excitement for the seasons ahead.

“We’re all massively excited for the inaugural season in our new home and this Open Day will give supporters the chance to kick-start the 2021/22 season in style, before we face Newcastle Falcons in our first Homecoming match at the ERS a week later.”

Edinburgh Rugby Head Coach, Mike Blair, added: “The team have been working exceptionally hard all summer, so it’ll be great to showcase the fruits of that labour to supporters in real time and give fans a first look at some of the new players and what they bring to the side.

“Having fans back in stands is something that we’re all hugely excited about, and it’ll be a welcome sight for all of us – coaches and players – to see the Edinburgh Rugby supporters cheering on the boys in the Lothian Stand.”
