Edinburgh to face Bordeaux-Bègles in Quarter-Final rematch
Edinburgh will return to Stade Chaban-Delmas to face Bordeaux-Bègles in the European Challenge Cup Quarter-Final following Saturday’s 36-0 win over Agen that saw Edinburgh seeded sixth as the best second-placed team in the competition.
The capital club will face their Pool 3 opponents – who topped the group on 26 points - on the w/o 3 April in a match that sees Edinburgh return to France following this month’s 32-17 defeat at Stade Chaban-Delmas.
Fixture, kick-off and broadcast details for the knockout match will be confirmed later this week, while the club will share travel and ticketing information in due course.
On facing Bordeaux-Bègles, Head Coach Richard Cockerill, said: “Whoever we were drawn against was always going to be a challenge, because those four sides that qualified for the quarters are all good teams, aren’t they? We did our job against Agen and we know if we can get everybody fit and healthy on the field, we’ll go anywhere and test any team.
“We look forward to a bit of downtime now, we’ve got a couple weeks training, then Scarlets, Connacht, Cardiff which is going to be huge, then we’re in South Africa for two weeks, with maybe some of our test guys at the end of the Six Nations, and then we’re in the Quarter-Finals. So, we’re halfway through the season, we’re doing alright, we’ve just got to keep battling away, and collect as many points as we can in that international period, which is going to be key.”
