Edinburgh stay connected with Virtual Player Appearances

After launching our Virtual Player Appearances last week, an initiative that allows supporters to request video messages from their favourite Edinburgh Rugby stars, we have been overwhelmed with the positive reactions and support from our fans, shared across various social channels.

This week we sent out our 100th video message from the squad, an achievement that we feel is worth celebrating during these times of uncertainty and doubt. So with that feat, we have pulled together some of the best reactions and videos that we've seen posted on social media during these last two weeks!

Darcy thanks Emma

It's so important that we look after those working on the front line, so Darcy Graham was quick to record a message for trainee nurse, Emma, thanking her for her continued and vital work with the NHS.

Matt's message to Heather

Matt Scott has always been a popular man among the Edinburgh support, so who better to hear from than the local centre done good. Supporter Rona Train was delighted to receive a video message from Matt, that was recorded for her daughter Heather.

Duhan messages, Fi cries!

Supporter Fi cried tears (of joy!) when a video message from her favourote winger, Duhan van der Merwe, was organised through a fellow Twitter fan. Glad we could do our bit to keep you entertained at home, Fi!

A video message from Hicks

Not just content with splitting the uprights from 50m out, Kiwi stand-off Simon Hickey has been taking the time to record some heartfelt video messages too! This time, for our loyal supporter Chelsea. Great work, Hicks!

Mish gives a shout out to the Rams!

Our star back-row Hamish Watson may be training in isolation, but he's still taken the time to give a much deserved shoutout to Moffat Rams. Let's hope we're both back playing soon!

Our South African stand-off Jaco van der Walt has been a popular man these last two weeks, and in this instance, he took the time to record a lovely message for local club side Stew Mel. Top man, Jaco!

Lock Fraser McKenzie always has time to chat with supporters so brilliant to see him record this video message for Penicuik Rugby. As Marc says, "rugby engages with everyone at all levels!"

Like all of us, Ben Toolis is staying safe and training at home, but that hasn't stopped the lock from recording plenty of heartfelt messages! This particular video was recorded for the boys at Dunbar - all the best for the rest of the season!

Prop Murray McCallum has sent out plenty of messages these last two weeks, but here's a special one he recorded for the guys at Portobello RFC. Great work, Muz!
