Edinburgh Rugby to host ‘Summer is Magic’ community week

Join the Edinburgh Rugby Community Team for ‘Summer is Magic’, a three-day free-to-attend festival of rugby activities, hosted at the club’s training facilities at BT Murrayfield and new purpose-built stadium, the ERS.

Running from Monday (9 August) to Wednesday (11 August), the programme is tailored for kids and young people of all ages and abilities, with a variety of different sessions scheduled.

From Inclusive rugby, to mixed ability sessions for both boys and girls, there’s rugby for everyone as we encourage all to get back involved in sport after a difficult and testing pandemic year.

The club’s Summer is Magic programme will also give those attending the chance to play in the club’s brand-new stadium, which will host games for the first time this season.

The three-day programme is available completely free of charge; however, capacity is limited, with spaces available on a first come, first served basis.

Registration for all events will close at 12 noon this Saturday 7 August. Successful applicants will be sent further details on arriving at BT Murrayfield, while unsuccessful applicants will also be notified.

Those over the age of 12 will be sent a further COVID-19 health screening email, that will require confirmation of a negative lateral flow test.

Edinburgh Rugby Community Manager, Ruaridh Pye, said: “We’re absolutely thrilled that we’re able to host ‘Summer is Magic’, an inclusive initiative that gives kids and young people of all ages the opportunity to get active again as we move slowly but surely out of the pandemic.

“It’s been a tough year for families and this initiative recognises the need for children and young people to reconnect with each other, as well as with friends and family, through the medium of sport.

“The sessions will all be great fun and will be skills and games focussed, and tailored to the different abilities of those in attendance.

“We want to make it as easy as possible to apply for a space, so please do get involved and get your name down for what will be a really engaging and active week of rugby activities in the club’s brand-new stadium.”

Further details on each session are listed below, while those interested able to apply for a space HERE.

Successful applicants will be sent further information ahead of their respective session, including all information on drop-offs, arrival times, and the COVID-19 protocols within BT Murrayfield.
