Edinburgh and It's Good 2 Give launch Local Hero initiative

Edinburgh Rugby and its Official Charity Partner, It’s Good 2 Give, have today launched a new Local Hero initiative, aimed at raising the profile of those making the biggest difference in our communities during this time of need.

With supporters able to nominate their Local Hero - whether that’s a nurse, volunteer, parent or carer – the initiative will see the club feature a new community champion across its social channels and website each week.

It’s Good 2 Give – who joined as Edinburgh Rugby’s Official Charity Partner at the beginning of the current season – back the initiative that sees the capital club join forces with their charity partner to shine a light on the true Local Heroes.

On the launch of the initiative, It’s Good 2 Give Co-Founder, Chair and Director of Fundraising, Lynne McNicoll, said: As the saying goes, ‘we are all in this together’. We are delighted to work with our Charity Partner, Edinburgh Rugby on this fantastic initiative – to recognise those who go above and beyond to help other especially during this current health crisis.

“Our charity, It’s Good 2 Give, won the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service in 2010 and we did so because we recognise how important volunteers are and we value them. I believe it is important to recognise Local Heroes and say thank you to them. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for what they are doing to support our community.”

How to nominate your Local Hero?

To nominate your It’s Good 2 Give Local Hero, simply email [email protected] with who you’d like us to feature and the reasons why. We will endeavour to get back to your nomination request within seven days.

What happens if my It’s Good 2 Give Local Hero nomination has been successful?

If successful, the club will be in touch in due course to collect information on your Local Hero nominee. Please keep an eye on your inbox for all communications from the club.

Who will select each week’s It’s Good 2 Give Local Hero and what is the process?

Each Local Hero will be chosen by a panel that will take all factors into consideration when making the decision. Please be aware that not all requests will be successful. We will strive to respond to all appropriate requests.

During this period, it’s hugely important that clubs, charities and communities work together, and through this initiative, we hope to do our part in repaying the care given to us by Local Heroes.
