Cockerill - We were ill disciplined
Head Coach Richard Cockerill gave an honest assessment as his side fell to Glasgow Warriors 24-31 at BT Murrayfield this evening.
Despite pushing for an equalising try late on, the capital side were always chasing the match, with the visitors holding on for the inter-city victory.
"Some really good bits, some really average bits - a bit like last week," said Cockerill.
"We stayed in the game, we gave ourselves a shot towards the end but we were a little bit ill disciplined.
"I thought we did some good things in the first half but when you give field position away for free and you’re ill disciplined you get punished and that was probably the difference."
Edinburgh scored through Chris Dean, Mike Willemse and Charlie Shiel, but the visitors were able to seal the bonus-point win as George Horne crossed the whitewash in 52nd minute.
"Glasgow took their chances and the possession and territory stats were well against us and that shows on the scoreboard," continued Cockerill.
"When Pierre went to the bin he gave a penalty away in his own half and then gave a penalty away on the goal line.
"There was a big moment before half-time when the scrum went against us on our put-in.
"Those tiny moments are the things that count in what ended up being a one-score game.
"We’ve just got to keep working with our squad. There’s some young guys getting time, we’ve got a lot of guys injured, and a lot of senior guys injured as well.
"It hurts as we stand here now but we’ve got to just keep using those experiences and I’m sure at a later date they’ll come in handy."
