Cockerill - We got what we deserved
Head Coach Richard Cockerill says his Edinburgh Rugby side 'got what they deserved' as they were beaten by Racing 92 in Paris this afternoon.
The hosts put in a dominant second-half display and overpowered the capital club to advance to the Quarter-Finals of the competition.
"We lost out on the physical battles and ultimately in the end we got what we deserved," said Cockerill.
"They’re too good a side, we weren’t good enough to be anywhere near them today."
Racing 92 led 20-3 at the break, but advanced through the gears in the second period, pouncing on Edinburgh mistakes to add further shine to the scoreline.
"We fired some early shots. We had one try disallowed for a knock on and we had a two on one that we didn’t take early on - but they’re a great side and once you get behind you start chasing the game.
"Physically they were very good. They’re a very good side that are very well put together so no qualms there.
"You make mistakes and they punish you. We made mistakes and ultimately we just couldn’t cope physically.
"They’ve got a good squad and they were better than us on the day."
