1872 Cup derby postponed
Tonight's (Friday 8 January) 1872 Cup derby against Glasgow Warriors at Scotstoun has been postponed due a frozen pitch.
After a pre-match inspection by referee Mike Adamson, the playing surface was deemed unsafe for the game to take place without causing a risk to the players and match officials.
PRO14 Rugby will immediately begin to identify a new date to play this fixture.
Speaking following the decision at Scotstoun, Head Coach Richard Cockerill, said:
"It's obviously disappointing as both teams want to play and we've got to this point, but player safety is paramount.
"It's disappointing, but it's no ones fault. We'll get back to Edinburgh this evening and discussions with the Guinness PRO14 around rescheduling the fixture will follow."
