Touring squad named for South Africa fixtures
Edinburgh Rugby has today (Monday 21 March) named its touring squad that will travel to South Africa for URC fixtures against Cell C Sharks and Emirates Lions.
The capital side welcome back a number of Scotland internationalists to the 32-man squad that will be based in Durban for the Round 14 fixture against the Sharks, before moving on to Johannesburg for the following week’s Round 15 clash against the Lions.
Mark Bennett, Blair Kinghorn, Pierre Schoeman and Hamish Watson all return from international duty as the capital club travel to South Africa for the first time since January 2019.
Head Coach Mike Blair, said: “This two-week tour is going to be a brilliant challenge for the club and we’re really excited to face two excellent teams in the Sharks and Lions.
“Being based in South Africa and getting to grips with challenging conditions and fast tracks, while facing off against different players – many of whom are Springboks – is what makes the URC such a different and fascinating league.
“We’re looking forward to getting out to Durban early this week, with preparations well underway for Saturday’s clash against an in form Sharks side.”
