New ticketing initiative seeks to strengthen links to women’s game

Edinburgh Rugby today launched a new ticketing initiative, backed by Main Club Partner Scottish Building Society, aimed at strengthening links between the capital club and women’s rugby across Scotland.

In the build-up to this Saturday’s United Rugby Championship opener against Scarlets at the ERS, and ahead of Scotland’s crucial Rugby World Cup Europe Qualifier against Ireland, the capital side will offer women’s teams and players in Scotland’s domestic divisions complimentary tickets for its upcoming home games against Scarlets, Stormers and Bulls.

Invites to the Scarlets game have already been issued to those clubs playing in the Women’s Tennent’s Premiership and Women’s Tennent’s National 1 competitions, and invites to the Stormers and Bulls matches will shortly follow to those clubs playing in the Women’s Tennent’s Caledonia Midlands/East and Women’s Tennent’s Caledonia North competitions.

Edinburgh Rugby Managing Director, Douglas Struth, said: “One of our main ambitions is to make Edinburgh Rugby a truly inclusive club, accessible for all, so as one aspect of that we’re delighted to today launch a new initiative that is aimed at strengthening our links to women’s rugby in our regions.

“We want to create an inclusive and welcoming atmosphere at our new home, but equally, it’s important that we have representation from women’s teams and clubs, who are vital in driving forward the game at grassroots level." Managing Director Douglas Struth

“None of this would be possible without the support of Scottish Building Society who have backed this initiative from the get-go. We’re really excited to welcome players, coaches and staff from the various women’s clubs as we kick start the United Rugby Championship in the new home of Edinburgh Rugby.”

Paul Denton, Chief Executive Officer for Scottish Building Society, said: “Scottish Building Society is proud to support this initiative and to continue to work with Edinburgh Rugby to make rugby accessible to all.

“Edinburgh Rugby and Scottish Building Society have many shared values and this is an excellent way to support and give back to the local community and to strengthen links with women’s rugby across Scotland.”

Edinburgh Rugby begin their United Rugby Championship campaign at home to Scarlets this Saturday (25 September, kick-off 5.15pm) with tickets available at edinburghrugby.org.
