More stadium sections open for 1872 Cup finale
More sections in the West Stand of BT Murrayfield Stadium were opened today as demand for the season’s URC finale between Edinburgh Rugby and Glasgow Warriors on Saturday 21 May (kick-off 6.30pm) continued apace.
Just two points separate the sides currently ranked fourth and fifth in the overall URC table, with three league matches to play between now and the decisive derby – Edinburgh Rugby enjoying something of a ‘home run’ after this weekend’s match against Emirates Lions in South Africa, while Glasgow Warriors take to the road for the remainder of the URC season after hosting Zebre Parma tonight (Friday 1 April).
The blockbuster finale to the regular season could therefore be the deciding factor in determining Heineken Champions Cup qualification, URC knockout qualification, the winner of the Scottish x Italian Shield and the historic derby trophy.

With over 15,000 tickets already sold for the regular season finale, supporters are encouraged to secure their place at BT Murrayfield now while the best seats are still available at Scotland’s national stadium.
The Edinburgh leg of the 1872 Cup traditionally attracts a bumper crowd, with a record-breaking 27,437 turning out in 2019 before the pandemic disrupted efforts to surpass that number ever since.
There is still good availability in the gold and silver category sections of the East Stand, the latter including the ‘Kids-For-A-Quid’ ticket offer, with the opening of corresponding sections elsewhere in the national stadium considered as these sections approach capacity.
