Edinburgh toasts Glen Moray extension
Edinburgh Rugby today toasts an extended partnership with Glen Moray as the Speyside Distillery sign a multi-year extension to continue as the capital club’s Official Single Malt Whisky Partner.
The new deal with the Elgin-based Distillers will see the Glen Moray logo move from the team’s playing shorts to the right sleeve of both the Edinburgh Rugby home and away match jerseys for the upcoming 2020-21 season.
Glen Moray now enter their fourth season as Edinburgh Rugby’s Official Single Malt Whisky Partner having joined the club’s sponsor family in 2017-18 and it’s a partnership that Edinburgh Rugby Managing Director Douglas Struth believes will only get stronger in the years to come.
“We’re delighted to extend this partnership,” said Struth. “When you think of Edinburgh Rugby, the Glen Moray brand has almost become synonymous with our sponsor family and their logo will now sit proudly on the sleeve of both our home and away match jerseys as we compete in the Guinness PRO14 and European tournaments.”
“Glen Moray have been hugely supportive during this time of COVID-19-caused uncertainty. It’s brilliant that we can now look to the future with a hugely important sponsor and count on their support as we progress into a really important period for the club that now sees our new stadium resume construction, and the team well placed heading into the final rounds of 2019-20 Guinness PRO14 action.”
“We’re looking forward to continuing to work and collaborate with Glen Moray in the seasons to come.”
In recent months, Edinburgh Rugby have collaborated with Glen Moray to host a Virtual Whisky Tasting evening, offering the club’s supporters the chance to sit in on a masterclass while sampling some of the Elgin Distillers’ finest drams from the comfort of their homes.
While this month, the partnership saw the club - in collaboration with Glen Moray - run a Father’s Day competition offering three lucky Edinburgh Rugby supporters the chance to win a money-can’t-buy Whisky experience, including a personalised bottle and bottling of Glen Moray straight from the cask.
Glen Moray have also featured in the club’s online and digital content, taking sponsorship of both the Try of the Month feature and the recently launched Centurions Series, which saw Edinburgh Rugby look back on the career of former Scotland and club legend, Marcus Di Rollo.
On today’s continued partnership, Claire Baigrie, Glen Moray UK Sales Director, said: “Our first few years of partnership with Edinburgh Rugby have been a huge success and we are thrilled to be extending our support for the club.
“Despite the challenges that 2020 has thrown at all of us, we've continued to build a strong community of fans with a shared love of rugby and whisky - including quite a few who are now exploring single malt whisky and its many flavours for the first time.
“Glen Moray has so much in common with Edinburgh Rugby, from our foundations over a hundred years ago to the values of honesty, ambition and bringing people together that we share today. Thanks to everyone at the club for their warm welcome and enthusiasm. We look forward to raising a glass to the club's ongoing success in the years to come.”
Glen Moray’s single malt whisky has been distilled on the banks of the River Lossie since 1897, just outside Elgin, one of Scotland’s oldest towns.
In its long history, the award-winning Glen Moray whisky has been distilled in time-honoured fashion, by hand.
Never rushed or forced, always in balance, steady and with care, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. This constancy and dedication is truly characterised by Glen Moray’s people.
