Edinburgh Rugby injury update
Head Coach Mike Blair has confirmed number 8 Viliame Mata and winger Damien Hoyland will both be out for a considerable period of time as they recover from respective knee injuries sustained in the recent URC victory over Benetton at DAM Health Stadium.
Mata was replaced by Jamie Ritchie in the 29th minute of the match, while Hoyland left play in the 38th minute. Both players will now remain under the care of the Edinburgh Rugby medical team and their respective recovery timelines communicated after further testing and examination.
Meanwhile, Blair has also confirmed that stand-off Jaco van der Walt has returned to training after missing the last four URC matches with a shoulder injury sustained in October’s 20-20 draw with DHL Stormers.
Summer signing Glen Young is also progressing well in his recovery from a pectoral injury sustained in pre-season, with the lock expected to return to full training in the coming weeks.
