Edinburgh hit 50 in stunning display

Edinburgh roared back into form, thumping Connacht 56-8, scoring eight tries in a scintillating display at DAM Health Stadium.

The night was a near perfect display, spearheaded by the returning Blair Kinghorn, who put in one of his finest performances in an Edinburgh jersey.

It was a slow start to proceedings however, with Connacht seizing an 0-8 lead thanks to a try from Peter Sullivan and a Jack Carty penalty. The visitors were in total control, and with Mesu Kunavula in the sin-bin it looked like the Galwaymen could run away with the match.

However, Edinburgh responded in devastating fashion, scoring three tries in a ten-minute spell that sent the DAM Health Stadium into raptures. Boffelli crossed the line first, with Glen Young stealing a line-out and feeding Kinghorn, who was able to hit a gap with the defence scrambling and give Boffelli a simple finish.

Player of the Match Henry Immelman scored next, before Dave Cherry - making his 50th appearance for the club - finished at the back of a maul to give Edinburgh a healthy 21-8 half-time lead.

The home-side hit immediately in the second half, with Kinghorn getting himself on the scoresheet. The fly-half put the impressive Ben Muncaster through a gap, and the rampaging flanker was able to return the favour and give Kinghorn a walk-in.

Kinghorn again turned provided shortly after, when he was put into space by slick hands from Chris Dean; the stand-off then giving Moyano space to scramble across the line.

Immelman darted into the corner for his second of the night, after a delightful looping pass out-wide by Dean – who enjoyed an impressive display in his first start at DAM Health Stadium. Glen Young thundered over from close range shortly after to register his third try in three home games.

The capital club were unrelenting, constantly putting Connacht under pressure, and it was Vellacott who was able to supply the finishing touch, latching onto a Dean pass after the centre broke through the visiting defence.
