Hawick-born Rory Sutherland joined the club on a Fosroc Scottish Rugby Academy deal in 2014 as a reward for his form with club side Gala.
While still in the Academy, Sutherland established himself as a mainstay in the Edinburgh squad and was awarded a full professional contract ahead of the 2015/16 season.
The loosehead prop was included in the RBS 6 Nations 2016 squad and made his international debut off the bench against Ireland in March of that year.
Sutherland endured a frustrating 2017/18 season which saw the prop struggle with injury, however, the Scotland cap returned to fitness in 2018, scoring an intergral try in the bonus-point win over Southern Kings in January 2019.
The prop put pen-to-paper on a one-year extension which will see him remain in the capital until at least 2020.
