​The 6ft 4in, 115kg flanker – who has previously represented Jersey Reds – joined Edinburgh from Bristol Bears ahead of the 2019/20 season following two years at Ashton Gate.

Having come through the ranks at Perth Super Rugby outfit, Western Force, Haining began his career as a winger. The now back-row was teammates with former Edinburgh centre Junior Rasolea, while he faced the British & Irish Lions during the 2013 tour to Australia, coming up against Scottish winger Sean Maitland.

Haining joined Jersey Reds in 2014 where he quickly developed into one of the most dangerous ball carriers in the English Championship. In a back-row trio - that also contained Scotland flanker Gary Graham - Haining's time at Jersey saw hims score 23 tries in 66 appearances.

Haining joined Bristol from Jersey Reds at the beginning of the 2017/18 season, having been one of the Channel Islanders’ standout performers in the English Championship.

In his first year in the West Country, the back-row played a pivotal role in helping Bristol to an immediate return to the Premiership.

Haining scored one try in nine appearances during the 2017/18 campaign as the Ashton Gate outfit finished as league champions.

Haining scored eight tries in 33 appearances during his two seasons in Bristol.

After an impressive start to the season for the capital club, the back-row was one of sixteen Edinburgh players named in Scotland's Guinness Six Nations squad for the 2020 tournament. The back-row qualifies for Scotland through his Dundee born grandmother.
