Charlie Shiel

Scrum Half

A product of Royal High School, Shiel signed his first professional contract with Edinburgh in March 2018.

He has represented Edinburgh at under-16, under-17 and under-18 level, and made his first appearance for Scotland under-18 as a second-half substitution in the age-grade’s tie against England, at Kingston Park, in March 2015.

The scrum-half was included in John Dalziel’s Scotland under-20 squad for the 2016 Six Nations, and made his first appearance off the bench in the 24-6 defeat of England at Broadwood Stadium.

Charlie is the son of Graham Shiel, former Scotland centre and current skills coach and analyst for Scotland 7s, and grandson of former Scotland and British & Irish Lions cap, Douglas Morgan.

Shiel made his Edinburgh debut from the bench against Southern Kings in January 2019, while his performance against Glasgow Warriors in the final 1872 Cup fixture of the 2018/19 season showcased his impressive playmaking abilities.
