Born in North Berwick, Ben Muncaster earned a scholarship to Rugby School at an early age. There he impressed enough to be picked up by Leicester Tigers, and he was part of the Premiership club’s academy set-up from the age of 14.
He represented Scotland at U18, U19 and U20 level before moving north to join the Edinburgh academy in 2020.
Muncaster made his Edinburgh debut in the home Rainbow Cup victory over Zebre in April 2021. He went on to feature for Scotland A against Chile in Santiago in the summer of 2022.
Injuries disrupted the following seasons, but the powerful back-row’s breakthrough came in 2024/25. He enjoyed a sustained run in the side across all three back-row positions, scoring tries against the DHL Stormers and Benetton, and earned a first Scotland call-up for the Autumn Nations Series.
He won his first cap starting at openside against Portugal at Scottish Gas Murrayfield in November 2024. Weeks later he committed his future to the capital with a new contract.
Returning from an ankle injury in early 2025, he starred in Edinburgh’s bonus-point win over Munster in Cork.
That display earned him the Scottish Building Society Player of the Month award for February and a Six Nations debut off the bench against France at the Stade de France.
He added a third Scotland cap against Samoa on the 2025 summer tour, and brought up his 50th Edinburgh appearance against Ospreys in November 2025.
