Dewar has been a regular feature Scotland’s age-grades, featuring at each level at under-18, 19 and 20, making his under-20 debut in the memorable 2009 18-17 win over Wales at McDiarmid Park, Perth, on the opening day of the competition and scoring a try in the 35-20 victory against Ireland on the same ground five weeks later. In June that year he played five more under-20 internationals in the IRB Junior World Championship in Japan, starting in two matches.
The Strathallan former pupil has also played for Caledonia’s under-16 and under-18 team and studyed construction management at Heriot-Watt University. As well as rugby he has won honours in swimming, with two gold medals in relay events in national junior championships.
