POSTED 1.20PM ON SATURDAY 8 JANUARY
After heavy overnight snow in the capital, Edinburgh Rugby Club and Scottish Rugby’s stadium and safety staff have been working hard to ensure the needs of players and spectators are met ahead of tonight’s Magners League game against Scarlets at Murrayfield (kick-off 6.30pm).
Considerable effort continues to be expended on both the pitch and the public areas of the stadium, and we are pleased to report that there are currently no issues with their readiness.
Barring any further deterioration in weather conditions, the match will go ahead as scheduled.
Further snow is forecast for later in the day, so we will be constantly monitoring the situation.
Supporters are advised to keep checking www.edinburghrugby.org and the official Edinburgh Twitter feed (www.twitter.com/edinrugbyclub) for any further updates throughout the day.
A recorded message will also be left on the Edinburgh office line, 0131 346 5252, in the event of any change in the situation.
With regards to car parking, the volume of snow and ice in the Saughtonhall car park is such that it is not safe to open. The route from Riversdale Bridge to the West car park has been cleared, and spaces will be allocated to Edinburgh Premium season ticket holders and season ticket holders on a first-come, first-served basis. We would advise that the number of spaces in the West car park is limited and so supporters should arrive early to avoid disappointment, or make alternative arrangements where possible.
Please bring your season 2010/11 car park pass as normal, as you will be required to show it to the stewards on approach to the West car park.
The West car park is accessed via Riversdale Crescent then Riversdale Bridge (opposite the ice rink). Disabled patrons in possession of a season 2010/11 West car park pass, or a blue badge, will also be accommodated in the West car park.
On-street parking will be available in the vicinity of the stadium, but, again, spaces are limited and supporters are advised to arrive early in order to locate a suitable spot.
We look forward to welcoming you to Murrayfield for the game.
