The influence of Edinburgh Rugby ’s record-breaking full-back, Chris Paterson, extended to striking up a deal with Santa Claus today as the pair teamed up to announce a very special Christmas gift for supporters.
If fans buy a ticket for Scotland’s RBS 6 Nations clash with France before the Friday 16 December, they will receive a FREE ticket to the classic east v west derby, the 1872 Cup, Edinburgh Rugby v Glasgow Warriors on Boxing Day (tickets for the France game start at £35 for an adult and £17.50 for students/U18s).
1,000 tickets have also been made available for the Firhill clash, and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis to fans who purchase tickets for the France game at Murrayfield on Sunday 26 February (kick-off 3pm).
The offer is open until 16 December, to ensure tickets are delivered before Christmas so get in quick!

Chris Paterson said, “The Edinburgh v Warriors game is always a bit special. We’ve had some great crowds for the game in previous years but with people taking up this offer it could be an incredible atmosphere. We want to see as many as people as possible at Murrayfield on Boxing Day and this gives them an added reason to go.”
Mark Dodson, the Chief Executive of Scottish Rugby, said, “This gift is to thank our supporters for their backing throughout the last 12 months. The support has been tremendous, particularly during the Rugby World Cup in New Zealand, and I know the players take a lot of encouragement from that.
“These are also difficult economic times and we felt it right to give something back to rugby fans across the country.
"Tickets have been selling well and we would encourage supporters to use our new seat-finder system on the website and buy early."
Edinburgh Rugby season ticket holders, whose season ticket book already gives them access to the 1872 Cup game, will have the chance to upgrade to an 1872 Cup Package, which includes a discounted Scotland v France ticket (normal price minus the cost of your 1872 Cup ticket).
Season ticket holders will be emailed further information shortly by the Scottish Rugby ticket centre with instructions on how to claim a further, free 1872 Cup ticket.
Supporters who have already booked 1872 Cup or Scotland v France tickets will also receive information on how to claim a further, free 1872 Cup ticket.
