London Calling by the Clash was literally and metaphorically the mood music for today’s coach and captains’ press conference to kick start proceedings for the Scottish, Welsh and English clubs in the 2011/12 Heineken Cup at Twickenham, which climaxes at the home of England rugby next May.
Michael Bradley and Greig Laidlaw were there representing the capital club alongside this season’s opponents London Irish and Cardiff, while Racing Metro would be gearing up for a French equivalent on home soil, as were our Irish counterparts, with the exception of Leinster who made an appearance as champions.
Black and Red Radio were also there to learn the pair’s outlook on the arrival of club rugby’s premiere competition which, following this weekend’s match away to Treviso at the Stadio Monigo, kicks off in earnest against London Irish on Saturday 12 November before Edinburgh Rugby entertain Sebastien Chabal and co as the big spending Parisians, Racing Metro, come to town on Friday 18 November (kick-off 8pm).
