On-loan Gloucester prop Shaun Knight was today reunited with Gloucester, having played out the full term of his six-week contract with Edinburgh Rugby.
The 21-year-old arrived at the club ahead of the round two match against Ospreys and went on to feature in every game up to the season break, playing 256 minutes in the five games; starting three and coming on as a replacement in two.
Speaking on the day of his departure, Knight said: “I’d like to thank the Edinburgh Rugby management, fans and fellow players for this opportunity and their support throughout my time in the city.
“I jumped at the chance to join the club and play alongside, and against, some real quality players and add another portion of rugby experience to my catalogue.
“It all happened really fast but, from the moment I arrived, I was made to feel really welcome and really enjoyed my time at the club.
“There’s some real talent at Edinburgh Rugby and I look forward to keeping tabs on their results as they enter the next phase of the championship and Heineken Cup.”
Edinburgh Rugby head coach, Michael Bradley, said: “With our entire first-string front-row in the Scotland squad in New Zealand, Shaun [Knight] provided invaluable cover during a crucial period of the Rugby World Cup.
“He’s a very talented young athlete with a bright future in the front-row and was a welcome addition to our squad in this early part of the season.”
Shaun Knight now returns to Kingsholm to vie for a selection in the side's LV Cup clash against Sale Sharks.
