Edinburgh Rugby and Glasgow Warriors today booked in for an extended stay with two of the country’s leading luxury hotel chains, as Hotel du Vin and Malmaison were revealed as the latest high-profile sponsor to commit to the professional teams.
The chains, jointly owned by MWB Group Holdings, have signed up to become an official partner of both clubs.
Edinburgh Rugby’s Mark Robertson and Dave McCall of the Warriors were on hand to celebrate the launch of the partnership with Robert Cook, chief executive of Hotel du Vin and Malmaison, at the prestigious One Devonshire Gardens hotel in Glasgow’s west end.
The partnership will grant the clubs access to the high-end facilities in Hotel du Vin and Malmaison properties in their respective cities, while a Hotel du Vin/Malmaison Player of the Month award will be inaugurated at either end of the M8.
The announcement is the latest instalment in a raft of positive commercial activity at both clubs. Edinburgh Rugby recently extended global asset manager Aberdeen Asset Management as main sponsor and recruited property marketing giant ESPC as an official partner, while The Famous Grouse, QBE and Greenbelt have all come on board at Glasgow Warriors.
Edinburgh Rugby chief executive Craig Docherty said: “Teaming up with Hotel du Vin and Malmaison is great news for the professional teams.
“We’re delighted they’ve recognised the benefits of being associated with two clubs who offer great brand exposure and positive values, and we look forward to working with them to ensure a productive partnership.”
Kenny Baillie, chief executive of Glasgow Warriors, agreed: “I’m extremely pleased to welcome Hotel du Vin and Malmaison as an official partner of both clubs. A lot of hard work has been done to demonstrate that these teams are a great place for sponsors to invest, and it’s been gratifying to see so many leading brands endorse our efforts over the past few weeks.
“I know I speak for both Edinburgh Rugby and Glasgow Warriors when I say that we’ll continue to push the commercial attractiveness of the clubs and seek to keep engaging new partners.”
Robert Cook, chief executive of Hotel du Vin and Malmaison, said: “We’re thrilled to have entered into this partnership with Edinburgh Rugby and Glasgow Warriors. We share the clubs’ commitment to high standards and a quality product, and see this as a great fit for our brand.
“I’d like to wish both teams all the best for their respective seasons in the RaboDirect PRO12 and Heineken Cup, and look forward to cheering them on in person at Murrayfield and Firhill.”
