Stand-off/centre Alex Blair and hooker Fraser Brown are to leave Edinburgh, it was confirmed today. The players, who joined the club last summer, have both faced challenges with long-term injuries sustained playing matches.
Blair (back) and Brown (neck) have received extensive assistance from the Edinburgh and Scottish Rugby medical teams as well as external professionals, and will continue to be supported as they plan the next stage in their respective careers.
Stuart Paterson, Edinburgh’s lead physio, said: “Alex and Fraser have enjoyed the best possible advice and treatment both from the staff here at Murrayfield and other medical professionals, and I know they appreciate that support.
“Both players have been carefully managed during their time at Edinburgh, and I wish them every success in their efforts to regain fitness and to get back on the rugby field.”
Both Blair and Brown have been invited to continue their rehabilitation with Sale Sharks.
Alex Blair said: “I’m going to continue my rehab at Sale with the view to getting back to full fitness as soon as possible and am delighted that they’ve given me that opportunity.”
