An independent discipline panel was convened by Scottish Rugby tonight (Wednesday 29 December) to consider the sendings-off in Monday’s Greaves Sports 1872 Cup match between Glasgow Warriors and Edinburgh at Firhill.

Glasgow Warriors substitute flanker Chris Fusaro and Edinburgh lock Scott MacLeod were both red-carded in the 80th minute of the Magners League match by referee Andrew Macpherson, following a foul play report from the assistant referee.

The pair were dismissed under Law 10.4 (a) – punching or striking. The panel – chaired by Douglas Hunter and also comprising Grant Wilson and Andrew McKechnie – determined that both players would be suspended for one week, up to and including Monday 3 January 2011.

Mr Hunter said the panel considered it was a low-end offence by both players whose previous good behaviour and their contrition on the night of the game and in their appearance before the panel was taken into account in mitigation.
