Thirteen of the Edinburgh squad who are involved in the club's pre-season visit to St Andrews from Tuesday to Thursday will return to the Fife town on national team duty next week. Seven backs and six forwards have been called up to the Scotland meet that takes place between 9 and 11 August, with Chris Paterson making his return to the fold six months after suffering kidney damage on the February afternoon when he became the first Scot to win 100 caps.

Fellow backs Mike Blair, Phil Godman, Nick De Luca, Alex Grove and Jim Thompson, who were all part of the victorious summer mission to Argentina, have been invited to St Andrews en-bloc, and will be joined by Ben Cairns. Representing the Edinburgh pack will be Allan Jacobsen, Kyle Traynor, Geoff Cross, Ross Ford, Alan MacDonald and Scott MacLeod.
