Edinburgh face a potentially tricky test on Friday evening (2 April, kick off 6pm) when we travel to the wild west coast of Ireland to face a refreshed Connacht side aiming to take another high-profile scalp.
Narrowly losing by just three points at league leaders Leinster at the weekend, Connacht have recently beaten Dragons in Galway and drawn against Glasgow – underlining their credentials as tough opposition.
But in our previous meeting back in September several season records were set including the most points in a Magners League match with 75 ending up on the scoreboard in a 62-13 victory for Edinburgh.
Chris Paterson, currently recovering from a kidney injury, also set the season-best individual points contribution that night with 27 points including eight conversions.
In our previous two trips to the Sportsground, Edinburgh have been unbeaten. Two seasons ago, we drew even though a David Blair drop-goal right at the death was deemed to have gone over by everyone with Black and Red sympathies.
Last season, we played some enterprising rugby and won, although it was far from straightforward. That away result gave us the momentum which we then took across the channel to become the first Scottish team to win on French soil in the Heineken Cup when we defeated Castres.
