To coincide with the return of Europe’s premier rugby competition, the Heineken Cup, edinburghrugby.org has launched our new Dream XV series where Edinburgh supporters name their favourite ever team consisting of players they’ve seen wearing the famous jersey.
Last week supporter Jon Seaton became the first fan to name his favourite ever line-up and now fellow fan Oliver Green has picked his team – a side bursting with some of Scotland’s greatest ever players including Scott Hastings.
Who make YOUR all-time team? In order to get involved with Dream XV email your line-up of legends – both past and present – to info@edinburghrugby.org with the title DREAM XV. The overall winner will get the chance to meet their favourite all-time player at a home match.
Remember supporters are encouraged to buy tickets for the first home Heineken Cup Pool match against Ulster (Saturday, 17 October, kick off 3.45pm) early. AnyGame vouchers provide fans with great value (£15 instead of £20 admission for Adults) and enable you to beat the match day queues, so call 0131 346 5180 now and reserve your place.

In the backs division, current chairman Gavin Hastings (Watsonians) leads the side from full-back with relative newcomer Mark Robertson and former Lions player Andy Irvine (Heriot’s) forming the rest of the back-three.
In midfield, last season’s leading try scorer, Ben Cairns (Currie), links up with his real-life mentor Scott Hastings (Watsonians).
The half-back pairing chosen by Oli sees the current combination of Mike Blair and Phil Godman selected to get the backs playing.

In the engine room, ‘Wagga’ and Big Jim bring some tough as teak physicality to the front five while the back row consists of former player/coach/talisman Todd Blackadder, Ross Rennie and Allister Hogg.
Local fan Oliver, who has supported the team since 2006, currently plays for Edinburgh Academicals under-20’s and cites the Heineken Cup home win over Leicester Tigers as his memorable match.
