Tom Brown and Struan Dewar have been added to the Edinburgh squad for tomorrow's pre-season friendly against Bath at the Recreation Ground (kick-off 3.30pm). The full-back/wing and back-row forward, two of the Elite Development players attached to the club this season, today travelled to the west country with the rest of a 25-man party led by new captain Roddy Grant.
David Denton, James King and Andrew Kelly have been withdrawn from the squad because of minor injuries. All are expected to be available for the first match of the Magners League season away to Cardiff Blues (Saturday 4 September, kick-off 6.30pm). Lindsey Gibson of Hawick has accepted an invitation to make the trip to Bath to provide cover at hooker.
Rob Moffat, the Edinburgh head coach, said: "We're not overly concerned about any of the guys we've had to leave at home. There are a few bumps and niggles with these players, but nothing that should cause us any significant problems longer-term. It's a good opportunity for Struan and Tom to show why they've been chosen as Elite Development players, and I'd like to thank Hawick for their co-operation with regards to Lindsey."
