Marc Teague admits that representing Edinburgh against Georgia tonight (Meggetland, kick off 7pm) will be the highlight of his career so far and says that he will be aiming to showcase his merits to head coach Andy Robinson.
The former Scotland Club internationalist wing joined Edinburgh in the summer on professional terms after producing some eye-catching displays for Heriot’s.
Now after recovering from a troublesome back injury the 27-year-old is keen to make his mark against the 14th-ranked team in world rugby.
Remember that admission to tonight’s friendly is FREE to season ticket holders while admission prices at Meggetland are £10 for Adults and £5 for Concessions - you can purchase your tickets at the ground, but there will be no credit card sales.
Teague said: “Everybody was disappointed with the result from the back-up game against Glasgow, but we have put that behind us now.
“We have trained hard and we are now all looking to put a marker down against Georgia. Obviously with all the Scotland boys away, it is an opportunity for us to prove our worth.
“I need to prove to Andy what I can do. This will be the biggest game in my career so far. It will be interesting to see what the standard is like.
“My experiences at Edinburgh so far have been in back-up games, so to play against a World Cup team like Georgia is going to be fantastic.”
After playing for Heriot’s alongside current Edinburgh colleagues Jim Thompson and John Houston, Teague acknowledges their collective on-field understanding will help him adjust to the demands of facing international opposition.
He added: “Moff (Rob Moffat) was having a bit of banter today, by saying all the Heriot’s boys together it is like old times again.
“But it is really helpful to play alongside familiar faces because you know exactly what they are going to do.
“When that is the case you don’t have to worry about anything around you; you just have to concentrate on your own game.”
