Marc Teague thanked his team-mates for helping him seamlessly make the transition into Magners League rugby on Sunday afternoon after the winger made his debut for Edinburgh in the narrow 13-6 defeat at Scarlets.
After conceding two early tries, Edinburgh were forced to play catch-up in difficult conditions and, although David Blair contributed two penalties, it was not enough to prevent the home side from earning the victory.
Nevertheless the positives that emerged from the contest were a losing bonus point which keeps Edinburgh in fifth spot ahead of Ulster and Glasgow and the fact Teague made his Black and Red bow.
Teague said: “I was quite nervous before I went on, but as soon as I was out on the pitch and I had the likes of Mossy (Paterson) and Cairsny around me it helped settle me down.
“It is completely different from playing Premier One or club international rugby because all you have to worry about is your own job; you don’t need to worry about anything else.
“As long as you do your job, it is all good. The conditions weren’t great, it was very greasy out there and the wind meant that every time the high ball went up it was going to go anywhere.
“But when you’ve got the likes of Mossy beside you during the game, talking to you it just makes it a lot easier.
“After making my debut it has just made me even hungrier to play in more games for Edinburgh, so my next step is to try to and start a game for Edinburgh.
“I realise that will be a tough job with Webbo (Webster), Mark (Robertson) and Turny (Andrew Turnbull) there. But I enjoyed it and I would like to experience it again.”
