Jim Hamilton admits he is excited about making his first start for Edinburgh against Newport Gwent Dragons on Friday night (25 September, kick off 7.30pm), especially because the last time he faced the Welsh side he ended up being voted man of the match.
Summer signing Hamilton recorded his debut in the Black and Red last Friday when he came off the bench during the convincing win over Scarlets.
Now the 6’ 7” lock has been handed the number five shirt for the trip to Rodney Parade, against opposition he is already familiar with.

Hamilton said: “I’ve played at Rodney Parade once before for Leicester and I played against Newport at home as well when I got man of the match.
“I don’t want to pre-empt anything ahead of Friday night, but I enjoyed playing against them before.
“They wanted to play rugby and they were quite big and physical. They are a force at home that perhaps some people don’t give them credit for it.
“I’m really excited. It has been a long road back, so I’m just really looking forward to playing again.
“Wales is always a hard place to go and play, so we have been working hard in training this week in order to get things right at the weekend.
“I got a taste for it last week in a great win for Edinburgh and I can’t wait to play again.”
Lining up alongside namesake Craig, Hamilton stresses that there is on-field confusion regarding their respective nicknames in the front-five.
He said: “He is ‘Hammy’ and I’m just Jim. My sister’s nickname is ‘Hammy’ amongst her mates, but I’m just Jim which I prefer to be honest.”
