Edinburgh stars shine in Summer Test opener

Edinburgh were well represented on the international stage with ten players in action during Saturday’s Summer Test opener against Canada.

As Gregor Townsend’s side battled to a hard-fought 48-10 victory, Jamie Ritchie and Lewis Carmichael made their international debuts, while both Magnus Bradbury and the aforementioned Carmichael found the score sheet in an enthralling encounter.

It was undoubtedly an evening for the debutants as Ritchie – who started at blindside-flanker – became Scotland’s 1093rd cap, whilst Carmichael – who capped off superb solo performance with a well taken try - appeared from the bench to become Scotland’s 1095th cap.

However, it was Ritchie’s back-row partner, Bradbury, who ended the night with two tries in all action-performance.

Elsewhere, Edinburgh’s front-row duo Allan Dell and Simon Berghan enjoyed impactful performances, while Grant Gilchrist captained the side alongside Ben Toolis in the boiler room.

Blair Kinghorn started at fullback and embraced kicking duties to close out the match, as replacements Murray McCallum and Mark Bennett also featured during a lively second-half.
