Academy players show up well against experienced Warriors

Full-back Jack Cuthbert scored Edinburgh A’s only try as they fell to a 26-5 defeat to their Glasgow Warriors counterparts at Broadwood Stadium, in a conditioned training game.

The match allowed for a number of senior Edinburgh players to get game-time, as well as handing an opportunity to some BT Sport Scottish Rugby youngsters, who showed up well against an experienced opposition.

Glasgow Warriors' and Scotland cap Chris Fusaro crossed the line for a try first of all following a driving maul, before Duncan Weir slotted the conversion.

Edinburgh retaliated, and managed to impose themselves on the opposition line for a period of time, yet couldn’t record points on the board.

With 17 minutes on the clock, Glasgow scored a second try, this time through BT Sport Scottish Rugby Academy Stage 3 player, Bruce Flockhart.

At the break, Glasgow Warriors were in front 12-0.

The Warriors then scored two tries in quick succession, firstly though Rory Hughes and then Javan Sebastian to give their team a 26-0 lead as the game drew to a close.

In the dying moments, Edinburgh grabbed a well-worked and deserved score with Jack Cuthbert taking advantage of space on the left wing and dashing over for a try.
