Aside from Friday evening's win over Newcastle Falcons at Mansfield Park, Edinburgh Rugby players were in action on Saturday across the BT Premiership.
Elite Development Players (EDPs) Chris Auld [pictured above] and Ruairi Howarth were in action for Gala who were narrowly defeated by Ayr, 28-24, at Millbrae after a second-half comeback.
Meanwhile Damien Hoyland and Ewan McQuillin turned out for Melrose, facing fellow EDP Alex Glashan and Alex Toolis for Edinburgh Accies. Melrose were victorious, 27-14, highlighted by a corking try on 20 minutes from Hoyland. A break down the right wing followed by a volley over the Accies cover was chased up by Hoyland, who showed skill and composure to dribble the ball across the line and touch down.
After a late elevation to the Edinburgh bench on Friday night - taking the place of Jamie Ritchie who started for a poorly Cornell Du Preez - EDP Magnus Bradbury had his first outing for the capital club, seeing out the last ten minutes of the game. The following day he was back in action for Boroughmuir, at flanker, in the 25-18 defeat to Stirling County at Meggetland.
