On loan prop to stay Rotherham

Edinburgh Rugby today confirmed that prop Robin Hislop will stay at Rotherham Titans beyond his current loan deal.

The 22 year-old former age-grade internationalist broke his leg in August last year and was loaned to the Championship in November to guarantee the game time needed to support his recovery

The former Langholm loosehead has since been a regular feature for the South Yorkshiremen and done enough to secure a one-year deal for next season.

Head coach Alan Solomons said: “Robin [Hislop] is a young loosehead prop who needs to play on a regular basis, which is why he went on loan.

He has done well there and has been offered a new contract and I think that, for his development, it’s important that he plays in a club where he is the first choice and playing regularly.

“That is what he has managed to achieve and I think it will give him an excellent chance to develop as a player.”

Hislop said: “I got the opportunity to come on loan to Rotherham and, with that, the opportunity to play on a regular basis. That’s the important thing for me.

I had a great four years with Edinburgh Rugby; I started off in the academy there and progressed through to the senior squad and I’d like to say a massive thanks to the coaches, staff and everyone there who has supported and helped me.”
