Big win for Edinburgh U16s

A pair of pulsating matches kicked off at Murrayfield last night, as the under-16 pathway districts went head-to-head.

The first match saw Caledonia beat Glasgow 20-7 before Edinburgh defeated the Borders 45-7.

Despite the result, the Borders kept up the intensity throughout the entire 80 minutes, though unfortunately it wasn’t enough.

The scorer from the Borders was Gary Munro (Jed Thistle), who converted his own try, and scorers for Edinburgh were Ewan Mallock (Watsonians), Ben Appleson (Edinburgh Academy), Sam Yawayawa (Boroughmuir), Andrew Horne (Preston Lodge), Camran Ferrier (Fettes College), Jack Paterson (Currie) and Kelvin Chen (Boroughmuir) - Appleson scored five conversions.

The pairings, which are aligned to Glasgow Warriors and Edinburgh Rugby respectively, will then swap opponents with the winners playing the winners (Edinburgh v Caledonia) and losers facing the losers (Borders v Glasgow) next Wednesday night at the same venue.
