Roddy Grant and David Denton join Edinburgh Uni players at the £5 ticket launchEdinburgh Rugby today slashed student ticket prices for the club’s next home match against RaboDirect PRO12 champions and two-time Heineken Cup winners Munster a week on Friday (30 September, kick-off 7.30pm).

Anyone with a matriculation card can see the glamour tie for just five pounds as Edinburgh Rugby seek to make it two home victories over Irish opposition in a row, having beaten Connacht 19-14 on Friday.

Students will be required to show a matriculation card to take advantage of the £5 ticket offer.

The club’s unique match-day experience gets supporters right on top of the action, with seating moved to the east stand and standing areas around the rest of the pitch that put fans shoulder to shoulder with some of the most exciting players in northern hemisphere rugby.

The Munster match also offers the up-close crowd a particularly tantalising battle on the wing as Edinburgh Rugby’s record breaking try-scorer, Tim Visser, goes head to head with Munster’s 62-times capped All Black flyer, Doug Howlett.

Edinburgh Rugby back-row Roddy Grant, who hopes to play his 50th match for the club against Aironi at the Stadio Zaffanella  this Saturday, welcomed the move to boost the crowd for the player's return home.

“Matches against Munster are one of our biggest crowd pullers so to experience that kind of up-close atmosphere just a couple of feet from the action is going to be really special.”

The announcement is the latest ticket initiative to come from the capital club which also offers free admission to adults that accompany groups of eight under-18s (must be bought in advance).
