Performance Analysis Workplace Experience

Edinburgh Rugby are looking to recruit potential candidates for workplace experience within the club going into the season of 2016/2017.

This is an exciting opportunity for a College / University student or even those who are in employment and would like to gain some experience in gaining knowledge of what it takes to become a Performance Analyst.

The Person:

  • Have an interest in Rugby Union and ideally be sports minded. Previous applicants have included sports science students to media/film to those in between.
  • Be computer literate with both PC & Macs.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office applications (excel pivot tables,formulae building & presentation of data), movie editing software etc.
  • Willingness to be flexible with time and location of training and games and weekends
  • Good time keeping.
  • Enthusiastic, reliable and the willingness to learn. What you can expect back in time:
    • The opportunity to gain an insight into professional rugby environment.
    • Develop your skills in Analysis.
    • The opportunity to potentially access subject / data for dissertation.
    • Performance related, the opportunity to work with Age Grade representative teams and Premiership Scottish Club Rugby.

The Roles:

  • Filming training, game capturing to designated analysis software packages which alongside Performance Analysts assist in getting this ready for Players & Coaches to analyse.
  • To learn the analysis software to enable you to breakdown footage for the above.
  • Work on designated mini projects reporting back on general areas of the game/training.
  • Develop your skill set in other areas of Performance Analysis as required by Edinburgh Rugby.

Positions Available:

Currently looking for one person to commit to 20 hours approximately per week to be involved in the depth of analysis looking at performance data along with filming of training, coding and other projects alongside ER's Performance Analysts. The second position is we are looking for candidates to perform more general duties of Performance Analysis within the Analysis department.
