CAIRNS GLAD TO BE BACK AT 15
Friday, 19 February 2010

Ben Cairns says he is eagerly awaiting his re-acquaintance with Edinburgh’s number 15 jersey ahead of tonight’s Magners League showdown with champions Munster at Musgrave Park (kick off 8pm).

The versatile 24-year-old started off his career in the Black and Red in the back three before making the outside centre berth his own over the past two seasons.

Now the Clermiston-raised back says he is aiming to play a prominent role in ensuring Edinburgh record a memorable win in Cork.

Cairns said: “I’m looking forward to going back to 15. With Mossy and Jim being injured, I’m quite happy to go back there to do a job.

“I enjoy playing there; it is not about being a utility back, but it is more about wanting to do what is best for the team.

“I’ve enjoyed playing at full-back in the past and hopefully I can put in another good performance tonight against Munster.

“I’m not sure how many games I’ve played for Edinburgh at full-back, but it must be around 15 to 20 games. It is not completely alien to me, although it has been a while since I’ve played there.

“It is going to be a massive test. It is probably a good time to get Munster during the Six Nations and the squad we’ve got are focused on the task ahead and aiming to win the game.”
