The rush for tickets for the biggest event in the Scottish domestic rugby calendar was sparked today by the announcement that the first 500 pairs of Boxing Day tickets for Edinburgh Rugby’s home 1872 Cup match have been released on an exclusive early bird offer.
The Boxing Day derby is first leg of the festive double-header (kick-off 5.35pm) for RaboDirect PRO12 points and local bragging rights with city rivals Glasgow Warriors, before the rematch heads to Firhill on New Year’s Day (kick-off 5.35pm).
To mark the cusp of the fixture’s 140 year anniversary, the first 500 pairs of tickets for the Murrayfield leg of the grudge match are being released for just £18.72 for a pair, with each purchaser entered into a prize draw to win a signed Edinburgh Rugby jersey!
The derby matches attract the biggest crowds of the season at both venues, with supporters encouraged to book early to snap up the early bird offer or to get in there for the advance purchase adult price of £15 (£20 on match-day) with senior citizen and student tickets priced at £10 and under 18s’ tickets just £5.
