Having trained with the club at the end of last season, Ewan McQuillin signed for Edinburgh Rugby in summer 2013, and joins the club’s Elite Development Player programme.

The Gala prop arrives at the capital club having earned his crust as part of an impressive Gala side who reached the semi-finals of the RBS Scottish Cup last season.

Success in the RBS Premiership

Gala returned to the RBS Premiership in 2011 and won the RBS Scottish Cup a year later, with McQuillin playing a key role in both victories. He was also part of the Scotland Club International side last season.

The Borderer was brought in to provide training cover towards the end of last season and impressed enough to be rewarded with a permanent deal with the club.

He will join an impressive list of tight-head props available to the club, including Scotland internationalist Geoff Cross, last season’s best newcomer Willem Nel and Scotland under-20 cap Phil Cringle.
